Youth

The Higgins Awards recognise the outstanding boy and girl in youth hockey in the UK at age 18 and under.

The Awards were introduced by the late Derek Higgins OBE who sadly passed away before being able to witness the first winners in 2004. Derek a great supporter of hockey and youth work initiated and sponsored the Awards which Higgins Group has continued to support generously.

The Awards have been presented at the HWC’s Annual Lunch and Presentations by Derek’s son, Richard, currently Chairman of the Group.

Five of the first eight winners have within a short time of being honoured have taken their hockey career a further major step forward by achieving their first full international caps.
