Hinch delighted with player of year award

Award is a 'massive privilege and honour'

England and GB goalkeeper Maddie Hinch has told Push magazine she is delighted to have received the Hockey Writers' Club player of the year award for 2013.

"I look at the list of previous winners and when I see my name at the bottom now I think 'this looks out of place'," said the 25-year-old.

"Those guys such as Kate Walsh, Helen Richardson, Crista Cullen, Tina Cullen and Jane Sixsmith are all players I have looked up to. And to see my name on the list at such an early stage of my senior career is a massive privilege and honour," she told the magazine's editor, and HWC committee member, Tom Cooper, in an interview this week.

A full version of the interview with Hinch, will appear in the February print edition of the magazine. See www.pushhockey.co.uk
