I watched the women's semi-final between England and Netherlands on the BBC website. I must say it was well worth seeing: all the action, good close-ups, excellent replays of the important moments. Only bleat was that early in the second half the lighting went down until the floodlights were switched on. Commentary was by Michael Absolom with summaries by Mel Clewlow. Incisive and informative backing to the action from both of them. Well done BBC!

We refer, of course, to the long running dispute between Hockey India and the Indian Hockey Federation and the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) attempts to encourage and promote Indian hockey. We would be particularly interested in your views on whether the FIH should now take away from India the proposed Men’s Champions Trophy in December and next year’s Olympic Qualifiers. Should India be banned from international competition?

England men’s squad to defend their European Nations Cup victory of 2009 in Amstelveen, as would have been expected, shows few changes to the squad which played in the London Cup a week before selection. Indeed out go just two, Simon Mantell and Ben Hawes, making way for the return from injury of Ashley Jackson and Matt Daly. Jackson and Daly will provide England with additional options at penalty corners, they also have the highest goal strike rates of the current England training squad.

There was a good turnout for the inaugural London Cup. But did members have any comment to make regarding the facilities?
