The Hockey Writers' Club was set up in 1972 and consists of a group of writers, photographers and broadcasters whose objective is to promote hockey.

The Club is recognised by the International Hockey Federation, the European Hockey Federation and by National Associations and Organisers of the game throughout the world. We . . .

• Advise on media facilities and liaise with organisers of events in the interest of our members.

• Serve the interest of hockey writers, broadcasters and photographers.

• Promote high professional standards.

• Welcome and assist visiting hockey writers.

• Channel approaches on matters of common concern to the game of hockey.

• Organise an annual poll to choose the Hockey Sport UK Hockey Players of the Year.

• Organise the annual Chris Moore Memorial Regional Hockey Writer of the Year Awards.

• Organise the Sydney Friskin Memorial Award for outstanding service to UK hockey, sponsored by The Times.

• Produce a periodical Newsletter for our members.

• Are UK-based, but offer associate membership for overseas members.

Annual membership subscription for UK members is £5.00.
Once only joining fee for non-UK members is £5.00.
