Seven
of England’s European gold medal winning team scored
on the second day of the new England Hockey League season.
James Tindall and Matt Daly each picked up a brace as Surbiton
outplayed Hampstead to win 5-2.
Tindall’s opened the scoring with a memorable shot,
Daly took his new season tally to six – all from corners.
Cup holders Reading won their first ever match against promoted
Exeter University 4-0 at Exeter yesterday, with Jonty Clarke
and the Mantell brother’s, Simon and Richard, all scoring.
Alistair Brogdon set Bowdon on the way to a 4-2 win at Loughborough
Students with an early goal. Richard Smith’s reply for
Students came when his side were already 3-0 down.
The shock result in the women’s premier came at Bowdon
where Hightown, the champions, were beaten 4-3 by Slough who
had travelled with a depleted team.
Slough had improved their corners from the previous week,
Bowdon are rebuilding.
The week-end’s top scorers were Canterbury Ladies who
demolished Trojans 10-1.
