City Women back in English League
Cambridge City won their final match in the East Women’s
League to overtake Dereham at the top of the table and gain
promotion to the English League one year after being relegated.
They won 3-1 at Tunbridge Wells to finish two points above
Dereham who had already completed their fixtures.
City took the lead with a fine individual goal by Kellie Lee
James but Tunbridge Wells levelled through Charlotte Cremin
who deflected a corner shot high into the net.
Liane Shadrack restored City’s lead in the second half
with an open play goal.
Tunbridge Wells troubled City with quick breaks but had to
withstand a lot of pressure. It was a second goal by James
which ensured City’s win and promotion.
