Three
clubs, East Grinstead, Beeston and Reading, remained in contention
to win the men’s Slazengers English League title next
Sunday after yesterday’s penultimate series of games.
All three won while Cannock and Surbiton dropped out of the
race for the title.
Grinstead had their second biggest win of the season by beating
visiting Bowdon 6-0. Dominick Male scored their first and
last goals.
They remain a point ahead of Beeston who ended Surbiton’s
hopes by defeating them 2-1.
Reading, three points off the pace, had a comfortable 4-1
victory at Trent Park to condemn Southgate to relegation.
Cannock were held to a 2-2 draw by Hampstead. They were saved
from defeat by Hardeep Jawanda’s last minute goal.
Bowdon Ladies made it 17 wins out of 17 in te women’s
premier with a 2-1 win over Slough. Tina Cullen scored the
decisive goal.
Olton remain second after a 2-2 draw with third placed Canterbury.
